My reader disappeared

My reader disappeared and I could not pair it with my iphone.

I'm sorry to hear about the frustration with your reader not pairing. Bluetooth and pairing issues are some of the most frustrating! I am going to outline some troubleshooting steps below. If they don't work, let me know and I will escalate further. 

 

1. Check Bluetooth Settings:

  • Make sure Bluetooth is turned on in your iPhone settings.

  • Forget the reader if it’s listed under “My Devices,” then try pairing again.

2. Charge Your Reader:

  • Ensure the reader is charged. A low battery can prevent it from showing up during pairing.

3. Restart Both Devices:

  • Turn your iPhone off and on again.

  • Hold the reader’s power button for 10 seconds to restart it.

4. Update the App & iOS:

  • Make sure your Square app is up to date.

  • Check for any iOS updates.

5. Reconnect the Reader:

  • Open the Square app > go to More > Settings > Hardware > Square Reader > tap “Connect a Reader” and follow the prompts.

If it still won’t connect, you can try resetting the reader by holding the button until you see four red blinks (about 20 seconds), then try pairing again.
