Known Issue: "Different total showing on customer front facing screen then main screen on Register"

I am running Square for Retail on the Square Register. Build 6.69sw so it’s the latest build. Started noticing this about a week ago but didn’t actually get to catch it and get pictures until today. When you hit the checkout button and the customer decides to add an item so you hit cancel so you can add the item. The additional items show in the cart but it doesn’t adjust the total on the main screen. I actually got up today and walked around the counter to check the customer facing screen and it actually gave the correct pricing, items and totals just didn’t update the main screen. When I hit the charge button which showed 58 dollars (which was incorrect)it did charge the customer the correct total of 127 dollars. Hi @homeprogreen and @Fetched-Up. I just received an update from engineering:

The fix will actually be in version 6.70 and we will begin release on 5/21 and aim to complete rollout for all Sellers by 5/28.

Once the update is available for your Register, it should install during the nightly reboot. If the update is recommended before the automatic nightly update, a notification will appear on the screen. Then, you can choose to update immediately or defer the update until the nightly reboot.

 

Please let me know if you have any further questions or if you don't receive the update by 5/28.

Yes, this has happened a couple of times to me also recently.  I am on 6.69.1sw.

Hey there, @homeprogreen and @Fetched-Up 👋

 

I did some investigating and found that this is a known-issue that's on our engineering team's radar. We plan to release a fix to address this issue in software version 6.71 for Square Register. From what I've read, this is scheduled to release mid-June, but there are active discussions regarding pushing this release sooner, due to the impact we've seen.

I've reached out to request a more concrete ETA. If I hear anything further, I'll be sure to let you know.

Thank you. Hopefully they do push it out sooner. I wasted a lot of time deleting cart and reloading everything not realizing that it was going to charge the correct amount
