I purchased a Epson TM-m30 II, it connects to iPad stands and iPhones, but not the square register. After talking with and also emailing, square replied saying “I was able to work along with our engineering team and they were able to confirm that the reason why this printer is not being connected to the register is due the specific model is not compatible with our Square Register. ”
The frustrating part is that the printer on the website the tm-m30 which they claim in compatible with all hardware both the register and stand is a discontinued printer which is why I purchased the Tm-m30II because that’s the current model. You’d think a huge focus on squares side would be having current and up to date hardware compatibles for the printers. They provide no update as to when this will be compatible either.
@Nolanryan Hey quick question, which specific connection type are you trying to use with the tm-30II? USB, Ethernet, or Bluetooth?
None of the TM line of bluetooth printers are compatible with the square register since it is android based. The bluetooth only works with iOS.
The TM-30 Line does work from what I understand with USB direct or Ethernet. I have found the ethernet versions of all the printers are easier to deal with and more reliable. Bluetooth just is not good in our business if you ask me. The standard is just not robust enough and reliable in my experience.
I am interested to hear which way you are trying to connect.
Hello! I’ve tried everything with the printer to get it connected to the register. Both Ethernet and standard direct usb and neither times does it show up on register. However with the square stand, it pops up no problem either way. It’s frustrating to say the least! What’s even weirder, I originally purchased the tm-m10II which is the smaller of my model and it worked fine, no problems at all with the register. And then I returned because the receipt paper was too small for what I was using it for and then purchased the larger Tm-m30II and that doesn’t work. Just seems strange!
I checked the technical documentation on both printers and there isn't a reason I can tell as a consumer buyer that it shouldn't work via ethernet. Do you have an android phone or tablet that you can put on the same wifi and see if you can connect to it with the app? I strongly prefer ethernet connected printers since they can be anywhere and any device can connect.
Hello! No I do not however, When I plug the printer into the Ethernet port that connects to modem and router, all devices even my iPhone with square app can connect and print on that printer except the register
