I wasn't sure were to put this question so randomly picked a board. What is the exact timeline for the new square plans to take effect? If we currently have the free plan, when will we lose features that are now on the next plan up if we do not change our plan? I have received completely different answers from the call-in customer support agents so it seems they do not know.
Hi @Micheler
Looks like there aren't any hard dates being communicated. I'd say this means you'll just have to ride it out until they get in contact. Their pricing page FAQ says they will notify affected customers in advance of any changes.
Assume you've seen these articles:
https://squareup.com/us/en/pricing (FAQ at the bottom - last question is what I reference above)

Also just came across this thread which maybe seems unless you change your plan, maybe you can keep your existing features:

so one of the things I am confused about is the text marketing. Under the new plus plans, up to 500 texts per month are free and then there is a fee per text after that. The text marketing that I had been using was up to 5000 txts per month cost me about $60 total (20 for subscription then a bulk fee for up to 5000 texts). this new plan will end up costing way more than that past 500 texts. I have over 500 subscribers and try to send a weekly text, so I would always calculate up to 5000 texts. anyway, It is not clear when/if that would change and when I Called and asked they all told me a different thing. so I cancelled my text marketing in order to not be exorbanatially charged. the plans have some benefits that I like but boy that text messaging will are missed and not worth paying the amount that it would cost.
Gotcha. The SMS thing is actually what always puts me off Timely. Knowing how many messages Square sends, I was terrified to think how quickly it could add up when you're paying per message! I think this is on all of their plans though, where as maybe Square has kept it just on the Free plan (which probably makes sense).
Hopefully they don't follow suit and go too far with this!
