Barcode scanner won’t auto connect

I have a socket mobile scanner and square on iPad. Anytime the iPad goes to sleep or I open another app then go back to square the barcode scanner won’t auto connect. I have to turn the scanner off and then back on for it to connect. The whole time it remains connected to Bluetooth. I’ve been through support with square and socket mobile. Best guess is something the tech team needs to address in an update. This just started happening a week ago.

Hey @TCTB and @ecarr, there was a widespread issue with Bluetooth scanner disconnecting from the Square app. Our engineering team has investigated and rolled out a fix in the latest app version, 6.73.

 

When you have a moment, could you check and see if you have been able to download the latest Square app on your device? Having this should resolve any connection issue you're experiencing with your scanner.

 

If you are on version 6.73 but the scanner is still disconnecting, please let me know!

Hey there, @ecarr - 

 

I wanted to gather some more information on what you're experiencing with the barcode scanner. 

 

Before the disconnection issue - whenever you went to another app or after a certain amount of time, did the barcode scanner disconnect? 

Also, have you updated your iPad or Point of Sale software recently? 

I will keep an eye out for your reply👀.

Hi @Kassi_ before the issue the barcode scanner would disconnect after about 5 minutes of inactivity but would always automatically connect when square was opened again or the iPad was turned on. Now it disconnects instantly and most of the time won’t reconnect. Software is automatically updated when new versions are released.
