Afterpay declined

Hey everyone 

I have afterpay online and have just adjusted my settings to in person also as I have lots of markets coming up and would really like both available.

I gave a trial run with mine and my husbands afterpay with my square reader, it picked it up, but came through as declined and I’m not sure why as we have all funds available and nothing owing on afterpay at the moment.

I would really like this sorted soon as I have a huge few weeks ahead and hope that afterpay may increase my sales.

Firstly, well done enabling Afterpay as a payment method on your Square Account, it's certainly a popular choice with customers and with the holiday season almost upon us, it's a great time to use it.

Regarding your trial, was the amount you attempted to process between $1 and $2,000? Additionally, if you're using the Afterpay app you will need to have the latest version installed in order for this to work successfully with Square.

Otherwise, there are a few other reasons Afterpay payments can decline. Afterpay has listed these on their website. What I would suggest is that you process a test payment for $1 using a credit card, to ensure regular card payments are processing as expected.
