How can I print a customer address from the Virtual Terminal

I have an Square online store, but receive a few telephone orders from customers.

If I take a payment from the existing customer using the Virtual Terminal, how can I print the customer's address for a mailing label

This post is bugging me - as it doesn't seem like you can!

I've had a look as it's not something I've ever done before and I can't fine a way at all.

All I can come up with is to create an invoice with the customer with the items and then process the payment straight away over the phone. It's not as elegant as being able to do it all in the virtual terminal but will at least give you all the info printed out that you need.

Hopefully someone better informed than me will come along and know a better way to do it ( @Twiggy - is this something you came across during lockdown at all?)

It's bugging me, too.

This customer has a card stored on file, for the Virtual Terminal payment.

I tried selecting the customer, then Print Customer. This just printed a blank sheet!

In simple terms you can’t -

We seldom ship due to the fragility of our product - We can’t use square for despatch.

I also do not use virtual terminal - loyalty doesn’t sync / inventory too - or it didn’t which is why we stopped using it during one of the lockdowns 2020/21

Can I ask why you use virtual terminal if you have online?

Have you tried using retail?  It’s quite versatile and works great with order manager.

You’ll set a list of delivery and pick up etc in your orders area.

When I do ship I use Royal Mail or UPS as the few customers who use our mail order service are in our address books or our contacts for which we can print straight from using their software - I’m 2 minutes from a main post office and their last pick up is 4pm for guaranteed delivery 9am next day - which is pretty cool for a small player.

@Twiggy

As my original post, most of our buisness is mail order, through Square Online. I can print a copy of the order for the mailing label.

A few customers, however, prefer to order over the telephone. Some of these have their card details stored in Square. We process these orders in the Virtual Terminal, but I cannot see how to simply extract the address details.

Oh sorry I read the “but” as you only receive a few orders in total - negative sense.

Sam knew my business model is unique - in that 80% of our business is telephone.
In answer then - I don’t use virtual terminal because you can’t do what you are requesting. The simplest way to do what you want is to use retail /POS or invoice via dashboard.

Lol. My phone was in the usa area and my iPad the UK - As all of our deliveries are ordered by someone else to be delivered to someone else - we have to add a modifier in the online area - this can only be created in the browser.

you’ll see what I mean if you visit

www.twigflowers.online

who do you use to ship / post your items?  I use Royal Mail next day guaranteed by 9am due to being perishable - its £££ but it means I know the flowers will get there.

we have to copy and paste everything.

Our goods are non-perishable. For UK delivery, I have set up options for Royal Mail 2nd class, 1st class, 1st class tracked and Special Delivery by 1pm.

For international shipping zones, we have Air Mail and Air Mail tracked.

We calculate the shipping by weight, so had to set the shipping weight of every (3,900) item in the online editor individually. There is no option in the bulk editor, nor in the import/export spreadsheet.

I also had to set the Shipping weight tables and Item weights to be x10, as most of our items are under the minimum weight in Square Online.

Royal Mail does seem to be the key favourite of square users UK.
I did look at your site - you have a huge inventory. I’ll bring this up in a meeting later today - there seems to be the need for many workarounds for UK users - at least we’ve got past the postcode problems a while back.  Yet royal mail are on strike weekly at the moment

A bit clunky, but you could enter the address details into the Notes section of VT while on the phone and then copy/paste it into whatever software you can use to print it.
