Show me your KDS.....Please!

Hey everyone

So a friend of mine became Manager of Food and Beverage for a company over the Summer.  I helped them out a few times with a few weddings as I worked in the restaurant industry for about a decade, but its been about that long since I did it consistently.  I recently started helping them on the weekends at their restaurant.  Looking to see what and how everyone else has their KDS setup.  The one I currently look at, is very plain jane, no color coding, only maybe 6 tickets show at a time (15" display maybe?).  Just looking to get some ideas on what helped you out or your kitchen staff out.

My business deals with invoicing only.  Putting in 50 hours at my business and then going here on the weekends, I'm trying to make and help out these other people as much as possible with better ticket times and organization to make mine and everyone else life easier if possible.

So we did something with Square KDS that Square said wasn't possible. Square moved its KDS to Android-only devices. This didnt really work for us. I purchased two 32" TV's. Hung them from the ceiling, one in the kitchen, one in the front of the house. I bought two mini PC's (they cost like $70-$80). I downloaded and installed LDPlayer on each (Android emulator), and then I installed Square KDS. My point of sale separates the food from the shakes and ice cream so food goes to the kitchen and ice cream and shakes go to the front. So I have 2 large KDS and I use a mouse to click each ticket to clear and complete them. It has worked great for over a year now.

Brilliant!   Yeah this tiny little screen that they currently have is not cutting it.  They've been dealing with this for ages now I'm not sure why someone would want to put themselves through this day in and day out.  

Possibly looking to change the layout this weekend to see how that works.  Do you happen to know if color coding an employee will change the ticket color for said employee?
