Physical Gift Card

What are my GC options. An older couple came in today and wanted to buy a physical GC and I didn't have any -

I was unable to figure out how to take the credit card and do it from my end, they didn't want to go online and do it from their end.

SO 1) how can I sell an online GC to someone from my end, not theirs and 2) can i buy a physical GC from any source to use and enter into the system?

Squares pricing is a bit high and an additional $45 in shipping is ridiculous

You can buy physical GC, but Square now charges you to load them.

All these nickel and diming BS fees have me looking at other POS companies. Anyone have experience with Toast?

On your POS go to More then Gift Cards then toggle on Sell Egift Cards in Store, then on the main menu screen click Actions and scroll down and click Gift Card

I sell them through our POS.  If I know the customer, I use their email address for the sale.  It's then added to their Square profile and can be applied at checkout.

If I don't know the customer or it is a gift for someone that I don't know, I use our company email address as the reference so that I can find it, if needed.  I've found using our company email rather than the customer email is MUCH easier.  I write the GC code/receipt reference number on our physical paper gift certificates that I have custom printed through an online company.

When the recipient comes in and uses the gift certificate, I post it as an "other gift certificate" payment.  I then keep the paper certificate and clear the balance in the POS system.  Having the receipt/GC reference number is key.

Get on Canva, or similar software, and design your own vouchers, check lawdepot for the legal blurb you have to put on them for your area / district and add the $\€\£ denomination (5,10,20 etc) and print them off. Then add to your store inventory and sell them as vouchers. No need to use square for things like GC or loyalty, just create your own.
