Adding POS-created items to menu

Hi there-

I created a test item on the POS terminal, but it only shows up when I search it. Is there any way to add it to a specific menu on the POS? Or do I have to later return to the Dashboard and add it to a menu from there?

Go to Dashboard>menus> Edit POS Layout> add it

When creating the item, add it to the menu(s) right there in that screen. See attached...

This seems like a closer to right answer. When creating the item on the POS, make sure to add it to a category so it's reflected in a menu group. Would the menu group need to be created from a category in order for this to work?
