[US Only] Beta Test Bar Tabs Pre-Authorization with Square

Hey Square Sellers! Michelle here from the Square Beta Team. No longer want to hold on to credit cards behind the bar? Do you want to simply swipe, dip or tap someone’s card to start a tab and hand the card back to them? Square is excited to announce that we are testing Bar Tabs with Pre-Authorization functionality for Sellers using  Square for Restaurants!

If you are using Square for Restaurants, and want to start testing - join us over at the Restaurants POS Beta Community. Once you request access, our team will respond within 48 business hours and you’ll get an email with detailed instructions on how to get started.

This is happening to use as well, did you get a resolution or fix for the issue? We’ve been losing money on this on at least a few transactions monthly.

Eek! @Hadley - did we find out why that was happening? Referring to this comment from @thetapws : "I've been using the pre-Auth feature in beta for about a year now.  Recently, it's losing the CC information, so we have to get the card back."

Hello, I haven't received any updates from square.  One bit of information I can add is that CC info dropping out seems to happen mostly with one employees log in.  Any updates or advice will be very helpful.  Over the holiday we lost several tabs due to walk outs bc patrons now 'eave without signing anything and assume a default 20% will be added.  Would I be better off no longer using the pre-Auth "feature".  thanks in advance

are you using the beta system or just normal square for restaurants?

I was using beta, but had too many CC info drops so I am now on Restaurants/Operations "Bar"

We’ve stopped doing bar tabs altogether due to this issue, I’d love to hear an update.
