On Demand Delivery - Flat delivery fee option removed

Hi Square team,

We used to be able to set a flat delivery fee for all on-demand delivery orders on Square Online. That option has been removed since July, and I can’t find any way to set a single flat fee now. It has made our checkout experience confusing for customers and heavily reduced our delivery orders.

Because there is no flat fee, we have had to charge a A$6.50 service charge to cover part of our delivery costs. This is what customers now see:

So customers are told delivery is free, shown a delivery fee we never even charge, and then hit a service charge they weren’t expecting. Since flat delivery fee has been removed our delivery orders have reduced significantly with most customers opting for UberEats instead... 

Please bring back the option to charge a flat delivery fee for "On demand delivery". I raised this previously and only the documentation was updated to remove the feature that was once there... It feels like the most basic feature for delivery and was removed without notice

I can definitely understand your frustration, especially if it's affecting your delivery orders! I checked Square's current documentation, and it looks like the flat-fee option is no longer listed for On-Demand Delivery. Custom delivery fees are still available for in-house delivery, but that's not quite the same. I'd definitely keep pushing this as a feature request and ask Square Support to confirm whether there's an alternative. Customers seeing conflicting delivery charges would frustrate me too!
