New Sales Summary Report

Is there a way to find out what the new "Sales Summary Report" looks like before I click the link to switch to the new version? The report I currently use is working (minus it not including gift card activation fees). Other changes made recently in Square have been less than ideal (editing an item takes way more clicks than it used to, and the Tickets screen was better before). So I'm hesitant to click the link to use the new Sales Summary Report without knowing what it looks like.

Hey there @lisa_n.. Replying to your first sentence, only.  If you click on the beta button, you'll see that you can go back and forth between reports.  However, keep in mind that this is not forever.  In a few weeks/months, Square will discontinue the deprecated report and only have the new one available.  I will say that this has gift card load fees, so that's a plus for you.  Best of all, if you have suggestions to make it better while it is still in beta, you can click beta/submit feedback.

Thank you, looks like I only have the new one available now, and no option to go back. I do appreciate gift card load fees are now included. I'll see what happens when I run this week's report and hopefully I have everything I need for reconciling in Quickbooks (everything I had before was perfect except for the gift card load fees).

@lisa_n First... you're saying that you don't have the green "beta" button at the top-right of your report? (see screen shot below).  And that if you click that, the popup on the second screen doesn't appear?  That makes no sense at all and I will report that, if so.

Second, have you tried the new Reconciliation report (dashboard > Reports > Accounting > Reconciliation?  It was designed to show a path from gross sales to bottom line funds available for transfer, with all fees and deductions, loan payments, automatic savings, etc.  I use it daily to do my revenue accounting entries for the previous day.

@TheRealChipA, No, I don't have the green button, I just see what is below. But I did find the solution. The Submit Feedback link pops up a window that initially looked like you would only send a message, but below the comment box there was a link to learn more about the report, then on that pop-up there was a toggle to go back to the old report. So I'm comparing the two. And thank you for the suggestion on the Reconciliation report, I will take a look at that as well! SalesSummary.jpg

The new report doesn't allow you to export the sales by each day, this is a massive oversight - being able to see your sales by each day is absolutely essential. if you can stay on the old report, do so. don't click beta!

you can see the data exists as the graph is showing each sales total by each day of the month, but when you export it to pop into excel it's been summarised for the whole month.

In the old report it was under report type but that no longer exists. Instead you can group by day - pointless report as there could be 4 or 5 monday in a report, 1 could be a bank holiday etc etc so figures are skewed.

*** UPDATE ***

Found it! - when you select the date range you are looking at, beneath the calendar there is an option that says "Time Breakdown" - if you change this to DAILY then you get the daily stats.

Personally I would have put this as an option alongside the View - Group - Filter option lozenges as they are options.
