Team,
We have done extensive work linking Google Ads to Square, however, have experienced some limitations and need direction and/or fixes. We want to be able to track customers who have clicked our ad, checked out on our website or have visited our store. We need to be able to access the purchase data so that our ads will be more accurate. Specifically, when a customers clicks on Ad online and visits a store, buys online, etc.
Our use case scenario is pretty simple:
- We are a smoothie, acai, juice QSR restaurant. We use Google ads to engage potential new customers who are searching for our product category in our community. We want to be able to track conversions for customers that have clicked our Google Ads and Visited our Store.
- Our Google Ads account is connected via Google Ads to our Square Dashboard.
- We link all of the Google Analytics setup via Tracking Tools. All tracking tools are confirmed and working.
- Tracking Tools have been verified by analytics.google.com, tagmanager.google.com, and ads.google.com
Here's the problem we need to fix:
- Square limits GA4 tracking to the checkout page only (website/s/cart).
- Square's final checkout page is located outside our domain. So once you go to final checkout, it takes you outside of our domain so GA4 failes because the tag isn't on the checkout page header.
- Example: We attempted to create a tag "trigger" via tag manager which search for the CSS event "continue-to-checkout", however, GA4 won't find it.
- Google Click ID:
- Google conversations want to see the Google Click ID which we can't seem to access via Square and Google GA4
- We attempted to setup Zapier for in-store conversations. Zapier can match the customers email and phone number, however, it doesn't seem to work.
If anyone has feedback or a workaround to get better tracking data, it would be appreciated.
