I’ve been with Square since 2019 and have genuinely loved the platform. I believe Square has tremendous potential to continue growing, which is why this decision was not easy.
My main reason for moving is that pricing has increased, while some of the tools and integrations important to growing my business have not kept pace with platforms like Shopify. Most importantly, I have not been able to reliably connect my products with Meta and tag them on Instagram and Facebook.
I would have preferred to stay with Square, but at this stage of my business, I need stronger social commerce and e-commerce tools. I hope Square continues investing in these areas because I would love to see the platform become even more competitive.
This is really thoughtful feedback, and I appreciate that you shared why you’re making the move rather than just saying you’re leaving.
I’ve been a Square user for years as an independent hairstylist, and one of the things I value about this Community is being able to talk about both what works AND where we’d like to see Square improve.
I especially understand your point about integrations. As more of our businesses depend on social media and online discovery, being able to seamlessly connect products and sell wherever our customers already are becomes less of a “nice to have” and more of a necessity.
I hope the Square team takes feedback like this seriously, especially when it comes from someone who genuinely wanted to stay on the platform. Sometimes the most valuable feedback comes from asking, “What made a longtime seller finally decide to leave?”
Wishing you lots of success with the move, and hopefully we’ll see Square continue closing some of those gaps. 😊
