manager notes

manager notes

On POS login screen, have button for manager notes notifications.  This would make communicating with staff much easier to see what specials we might have for the day, any 86 items, random notes on whats going on for the day.  Ideally the button could also have a flag of some sort so when the server is putting in their pin, they can see if there are any new notifications.

@scalehouse I like this idea and am upvoting it.  But, while you wait, I have a question.  Are you using Square's Team app and, specifically, Team Chat in your operation?  If not, you can actually create various threads (one for Managers, one for the whole team, one for cooks, one for dishwashers, etc) and communicate quite effectively in that.  You can even see who has and has not read that thread.  Also, you can create announcements that are just that -- announcements that don't have conversational features.  I use this regularly and have for a few years.  It works beautifully in my soft serve shop.

We don't allow our employees on their phone when clocked in.  We're a very busy restaurant and we already saw where that went in the past.  The goal is to be able to push notifications out since the servers all have iPad minis for table service and bartenders have stationary iPads at the bar.  After each sale the iPads revert to the pinpad in which every time they go to put in a new order they would see the notification.  With anywhere from 5-10 severs/host/bartenders working all over inside and outside trying to track them all down to 86 something or switch a dessert special is no easy task.

Not looking for two way conversation either.  Just a place a manager can send an alert to front of house on any immediate changes.

Understood.

@TheRealChipA I didn't realize Square offered Team messaging. Just signed up for the trial.

Can you share how to create message threads? I can see how to direct message an individual team member but not sure how to create channels.

We've been looking for a solution for team messaging but didn't want to subscribe to another app just for this!

Thank you!

Ah, I see the new "Team chat" icon now that I subscribed. 🙂

I could see where this could be useful to "alert" staff to something going on within the business.   We also use Square Team Communication as a part of day to day business, but I can certainly understand the need that @scalehouse is recommending.

It would be extremely helpful in alerting staff to "limited items remaining" type of things.

This has my vote.
