Tips Suggestions based on total bill (not post-discounts)

Hi -when using the tip suggestions feature the suggestions are being calculated after discounts are given (or after a gift card amount is applied). This is negatively impacting the income of staff.

It would be helpful if the tip suggestions were calculated based on the total purchase price (prior to discounts being applied or gift cards being used for payment). Currently, staff have to nicely let customers know that if they'd like to customize their tip based on the original total that they can do so by selecting the Customize button. Some staff feel awkward doing this and are not being tipped based upon the full service that they have provided.

My business also is feeling the effects of not having this feature. Although square does offer many options, this is an important one for the worker themselves. In my business, we take a deposit for groups and then at the end of the check out that deposit, which is significant, is deducted. Then the person who worked the group gets a tip based on the discounted amount. An example would be a birthday party where the organizer pays the deposit of $400, so the customers $800 bill at the end of service would then be $400. The employee is the one that is taking the tip on the lesser amount. They should be tipped at the original amount of $800 not the discounted amount of $400. It is pretty clear and should be pretty simple for square to implement this as they are able to do this already with the tax option. To be able to tip before tax or without tax.

Bumping this please add this feature.

Same!

I dont understand why this hasn't been fixed yet. There's plenty of cases presented here that offer valid reason for adding a setting option to tip on original amounts. It really hurts small business and people like me who depend on tips. No customer, myself included when I'm paying somewhere, is going to check to see if the presented % tip options are on the total or after the discount. Its also super awkward to tell the client that they should do a custom amount and makes you look thirsty. I do permanent makeup and my deposit is $150. So each service I'm missing out on a lot. My tips account for 20-30% of my income.

@FloridaMicrobla we just moved over to Vagaro and it had fixed this issue. Best of luck
