Specify a location (floor / backstore) for inventory management

Specify a location (floor / backstore) for inventory management

This would really transform Square from a software for small business to one for large businesses: being able to specify where is an item physically in a store.

For example: employee sees there are 5 left of item A. Employee knows that item A is either on the floor on Shelf Z45 Row A or also could be in the backstore on shelf TY64 Row 21.

The ultimate experience would be an employee knowing there are 2 on the floor and 3 in the backstore... But I would settle for at least being able to specify where items are.

I'm currently on vacation, and this time away has really proven to me that we need some type of solution in regarding to inventory location.

Currently all overstock exists in my brain as there is no place within square items to memorialize this information.

You can imagine how frustrating this is when on vacation. It frustrates me because I'm trying to get a break, and it frustrates my team and my business partner who have no way of looking up where a particular item is.

Many of us have 100s if not 1000s of individual items. Keeping track of overstock and where those items are merchandised and cross merchandised in the store is critical (cross merchandising is putting items in a secondary location- like bananas with cereal in addition to with fruit).

When we are trying to locate and/or restock, it would be a HUGE time saver if we were able to look up the item in square and have a list of where in the store inventory is located.

Inventory management is a CRITICAL part of retailing and we need Square to address it.

We try to keep product together both in our retail space and backstock. Ideally it would make reordering products as well as inventory counting day easier. But without proper physical labeling and digital labeling (in Square), there is room for error.

Hoping this one comes to fruition.

As a flooring showroom business, this feature would be very useful for us. We display products like vinyl flooring, laminate flooring, SPC flooring, LVT flooring, and wooden flooring on the sales floor, while keeping bulk stock in the backstore or warehouse. Being able to see exactly how many boxes are on display and how many are in storage would help our team manage inventory faster and serve customers more efficiently. This would make stock control much more practical for flooring businesses like ours.
