Nested Modifiers

We should clearly be able to have access to nested modifiers while using Square POS.  I am not sure why this is even a topic of conversation.  Any updates on when this very basic setting will be added?

Order item (BURGER), side modifier choice (salad), modifier of the salad modifier (salad dressing choice).

I believe this is an important feature for Square to continue developing and enhancing.

Coming from a background with several more mature enterprise POS platforms, nested modifiers are one of the key advantages those systems offer over Square today. As Square continues to mature and expand further into the larger restaurant and food service market, robust nested modifier functionality will become increasingly critical for POS administrators to effectively support the operational needs of their customers.

Complex menus, customization options, ingredient selections, and advanced ordering workflows often rely on multiple levels of modifiers. Without strong nested modifier capabilities, menu configuration can become difficult to manage and less scalable as businesses grow.

I would like to see Square continue to invest in and advance this feature area. Enhanced nested modifier support would significantly improve menu flexibility, simplify administration, and help Square better compete with more established enterprise POS solutions.

Nested Modifiers now work.  I had to uninstall and reinstall the app to make them active however!

Does anyone know if these work on the Square Online stores yet, or if they will integrate with Doordash, UberEats and Grubhub?

They do not work on online store. They do work on cashapp online ordering but not square.site

“No update on when this will be available for online ordering at this time.”

Nested modifiers are not working on Square Kiosk

I was told nested modifiers do work on Square Kiosk. What issues are you having? Maybe you're missing something? I don't have a kiosk to verify but I was planning on getting one.  I have a call with Square tomorrow so I'll ask about this.

I was told they are not implementing it on Square online because they will phase it out for the new cashapp online ordering.

Nested modifiers works great for third parties (Uber, Grubhub, and Doordash).

The parent group of modifiers is displayed but when you select one, no nested options appear. It just selects that modifier as if there are no nested options at all. These items work as expected on the POS just fine. The behavior is only in error on the kiosks. I made sure the Kiosk channel was selected on the Parent Modifier group as well as the nested modifiers.

(Sorry for the username change, I had to recreate this profile because I disabled the location I was always using and now I can not access the Square Community account.)

Do you know when this will be happening? Do the nested modifiers work in the Cash App atmosphere? I currently use the square online for my food online ordering but could possibly transition to the Cash App version of the site if that's the direction square is headed.

@FrostFairy did you try clicking the modifier again? That's how they work for me on the POS. It will automatically open on the POS but if you go out and want to modify it again you just click the modifier again and it takes you to the nested one. I didn't end up speaking with square today because they wanted to do a Google meet and I didn't have my computer on me.

@backyard yes I tested it on the cash app version and nested modifiers work nicely. You can test it yourself by going to the online ordering tab instead of square online and you can preview the site there. I had to create a duplicate menu for my third party items anyway so it was easy for me to test even when my site was live. I can post some pictures later if you like, I'm still not at a computer responding on my phone.
