Prevent Multiple Discounts

Prevent Multiple Discounts

I would like a way to prevent stacking discounts during the checkout process.

Hello @ACHardwoods, that’s an excellent feature request. We appreciate you sharing your business use case and why it would be valuable for you. If you know of any fellow Seller Community members who would like to see this built out as well, feel free to tag them in your post so they can share their thoughts as well! The more sellers chime into the request, the more likely it is to catch our product team's eye.

This would also be a great feature. We offer rewards and also the Square marketing system sends out coupons for birthdays and also to entice people to come in that haven’t been in for a while. In some situations a customer has many rewards or coupons that can end up making their whole sale free. We need to be able to add restrictions so this doesn’t happen. Keeping an eye on my employees all the time to prevent this is not possible.

Good morning @MayaP

This feature has been requested by other sellers already. We requested it back when we started using Square in 2020! I'm sure if you search the posts you will find others-

This feature is necessary for so many retailers. If we're trying to offer discounts/coupons as incentives, it makes it very difficult when there is no safeguard for us to block multiple different discounts being used on the same sale. It seems like a basic POS feature so I'm not sure why it hasn't been added yet!

For example, we have a senior discount every Monday, and a veterans discount every Tuesday. If these customers also have a coupon, or we offer a discount on a specific item, there is no way to block both discounts on the same sale, which often means lost profit.

We also offer case discounts for customers. If they get a case discount, others should not apply. But right now we are dependent on our clerks paying very close attention on every sale to remove a discount, which is also a pain as that makes the sale more complicated when they have to figure out how to take a discount off!

Please put this on the updates list. As I stated in my customer feedback post today, many new features seem to be for businesses that are online, but there are still some of us who don't (or can't) offer online sales! We are a brick & mortar wine & liquor store in NY state.

Would be a nice feature to have! i.e when we are having a BOGO sale and one of my employees is purchasing the items on sale... Only the greater discount should be applied, or only one should be allowed.

I once again would like to offer support for this as a retailer that uses Square Loyalty and Marketing as well as discounting.

Currently we have manual loyalty promotions, coupon promotions, and then clearance promotions. If they come in with a coupon and pick out a mix of clearance items and regular items I can't even redeem the coupon because of the way they're applied, I have to then manually discount the eligible items.

As understanding as I am of coding priorities it shouldn't be difficult to only apply one coupon or discount per item whichever is larger.

Manually redeeming the coupons instead of scanning or entering the codes throws off my metrics and Square's marketing tracking.

Please Require Customers to pick time/date at checkout for Square online. Thanks!

I also need this discount. I do not want my customers to stack discounts, especially on sale items.

This thread was opened a few years ago and many people are asking for this feature. It's a pain in the butt to manually discount different items or if a customer has a coupon, remove the automatic discount for certain items and apply their coupon. This should be a simple feature to add so please just add it!

We need this as well
