Please, please, let us see when items are on order from the PO screen

My old system would show me when an item was already on order as I was creating a PO so that I didn't duplicate orders for things that were on backorder with my vendors.  (And these days there seem to be a lot of things on backorder with the vendors!) In Square, I cannot see that information unless I run an entirely separate report and reference that alongside the PO. It causes me to waste a lot of time! Items are often on backorder with the vendor, and then I mistakenly order them again, and then we have to spend time sorting out the duplicate orders. 

 

There was a message about this from January that seemed to suggest Square was working on a new feature, but that comment is closed to replies so I am posting this idea again. 

 

It's just one of the many things I've found cause my work to take longer and be less efficient with Square. Please, please, add this functionality!

I completely agree—having visibility into on-order items directly from the PO screen would save so much time and prevent duplicate orders. Until Square adds this functionality, a workaround could be using custom tags or notes in your inventory system to flag backordered items, though I understand it’s not ideal. It’s great that you’re bringing this up again—hopefully, Square prioritizes this feature soon. Let’s keep the discussion active to push for improvements!

I think that tagging @Square and @BradenSQ might bring this thread to Square's attention.

I just re-read your comment and I'd love to understand more about the workaround you suggest, since there doesn't seem to be a solution yet from Square. How would I create a custom tag or a note on an item? I'm not aware of any way to tag items in Square, and I don't know of any notes or tags that would show up at the ordering phase of the process. What am I missing?

@RobynR Any progress on this? Still comes up constantly and makes placing orders much more difficult and time-consuming. And just last week a vendor called to ask if I really wanted all of the items that had just come in because I had ordered them three different times while they were on backorder! 

 

Please take our requests seriously, this stuff affects our day-to-day running of our businesses.
