Seller Quotes Needed for Black Friday News Pitching!

Hi lovely Square sellers!

I’m a member of Square’s Communications team, and in the lead-up to our Black Friday/Cyber Monday pitching – for which we’ll be reaching out to local news outlets – we’d like to include seller quotes from the following key cities: Miami, Chicago, Dallas, Portland, Seattle, LA, SF, Atlanta.

If you’re interested in being featured, please respond with a quote of approximately 3 sentences responding to one of the following prompts:

  1. What does it mean for your neighborhood when people choose to shop local during Black Friday weekend?
  2. How do Block's tools - Square for your operations and Cash App Card or Cash App Pay for customers - help you compete during the biggest shopping weekend of the year?
  3. What hurdles/challenges are you overcoming this Black Friday?

If you could please include your city, title, and business name, that would be fantastic! We will need these by EOD Wednesday, Nov 19th ET

Thank you so much for your support. Looking forward to earning some great coverage together!

For reference, a quote example would take the form of:

"We're seeing a meaningful shift in how Americans shop," said [Name], [Founder] of [Business] in [City]. "In the face of mounting cost pressures, shoppers are making a conscious decision to invest in and support our local community. It means everything to our business to know that during this important weekend, our neighborhood is going to choose us first."

“We’re seeing how much the economy is affecting everyday people,” said Cassieandre Jones, Owner of Pink Caviar Lash & Brow Spa in McDonough, GA. “During Black Friday, shopping local truly helps small businesses like mine continue supporting the 14 employees who depend on us, while keeping money circulating right here in our community. And even though beauty isn’t always viewed as essential, it allows us to take care of our families while offering services that help women feel confident and cared for.”

With the economy affecting everyday people more than ever, shopping local during Black Friday helps small businesses like mine continue supporting the 14 employees who depend on us. It keeps money circulating right here in McDonough and helps local families maintain stability during uncertain times. And even though beauty isn’t always seen as essential, it allows us to support our families while continuing to offer services that genuinely help women feel confident and cared for.

It is hard to compete with big box stores or mega online sellers but I have the human, one-on-one touch that cannot be replicated by AI.

"When customers choose to shop local, they're not only helping an individual business, they're helping the local economy," said Amanda Carriveau, owner of Bierock in Madison, Wis. "Money spent locally goes to support our business, employees and suppliers. And with Black Friday kicking off the holiday season, it's a boost for everyone involved."

Shopping local and shopping small are so important to our communities, community members, and small businesses; especially during such difficult times. Square allows me to offer an easy-to-access online marketplace where people can easily find and pay for my services. I run several specials over Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday and while I can't keep up with the big organizations - I can give a personal and high touch experience, reward customer loyalty, and show up as a real human who is grateful for every single purchase. I've read that "Approximately67 cents of every dollar spent at a small local business stays in the community, while only about 43 cents of every dollar spent at a national chain remains local" according to a 2025 piece by Rev Credit Union. Competing with big organizations who can deeply discount services and products is a challenge but I trust in the power of connection, loyalty, and unreasonable hospitality - things that big corporations and businesses just can't seem to replicate.
