No more pennies for cash sales

I want to stop using pennies in my Square POS over-the-counter sales.  This is due to the new national policy to stop minting pennies.  I could set my prices to the nearest nickel, dime, or quarter, (which I have done before) but when %discounts are taken into account, there will always be some cash sales that will need pennies for change.  We are not going to stop offering % discounts for various good reasons.  I want Square Register to have an option to round the change to the nearest nickel, since pennies are going 'obsolete' in the US.   My employees could theoretically do this manually, except for 2 reasons:  the numbers won't add up at the end of the day (the register count will always be 'off'), and also that you would be surprised how many young people can't do simple math, or perform simple concepts like 'rounding'.    Currently, when I apply a percentage discount, the SquareUp POS must already round to the closest penny.  That's just math.  If they can round to the nearest penny, then it can be made to round to the nearest nickel also.

Piling on, need a fix ASAP. This didn't come out of nowhere. We've (Square users) been raising this issue for awhile, sort of frustrating to not have a solution yet.

Our bank will stop providing pennies to our businesses on 11/22/25. Is there a way we can have the POS round up to the .5 yet?

Yes, we do need this feature! This is going to affect every business in the USA. I've read that they already have this functionality for Canada. We need them to turn it on for us too.

Adding to this thread to see if @Square has any outlook on how they're going to handle the penny being phased out. Banks are already limiting our ability to grab pennies. If square does not do this for us, it will be an absolute mess doing it on the fly as it will throw off our register totals each day.

How does Australia do it now?  They haven’t had the penny since 1992 and I’m sure Square is in use there. 

Can we migrate to their version?
