Merge or Consolidate duplicate items in reports

When I change the name of an item, I would like to be able to merge the data in reporting for the items with the original name and the items with the new name.

Ex: I want to know how many "Chocolate Chip Cookies" I sold in September.  Mid September, I changed the item name to "Fresh Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies".  

If I sold 25 "Chocolate Chip Cookies" in the first part of September, and sold 50 during the time in September when the name had been charged to "Fresh Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies", my report will list these as separate items with quantities of 25 and 50 respectively.  I think that's ok as a default, but I would like to have an option to merge an item's reporting data into another item.  In this example, the manual merging of items would result in my report indicating 75 "Fresh Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies" were sold in September.

Hi @jscianca and welcome to the Square Community! Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with your idea, I think it makes sense and know it would come in handy. I am opening the feature request for voting and comments so other folks might share how this would be beneficial to them, too.
