How can we exclude an item from the discount ?

Please include a button on each line item/product to exclude an item from a discount. So if we choose to have an item excluded,  we would click on the button that enables it to be excluded. We used to use Shopkeep and they had this function on each line item. So if we choose to exclude an item from a discount, then we can enable it from the item itself.

Is there a possibility that there can be exclusions to discounts? We currently have some discounts that work for our restaurant, but we would like to be able to exclude certain items (i.e. alcoholic beverages) from the ticket discount. There is currently no option to exclude items on discounts, and only a way to automatically apply the discount to certain items. Any chance that you could review this and see if there is an option to exclude items from discounts?

There have been several threads created, they are now closed. This is another request to be able to exclude items from being discounted on Square. Simply put, we need to be able to mark an item as non-discountable so that discounts cannot be applied. This should be a simple check box or on off slider to do this. Every point of sale I've seen has this function easily enabled.

We are a Nonprofit and receive many donations everyday. It makes no sense to not be able to exclude donations from discounts. In addition we desperately need a button to automatically round up to the dollar. Both of these issues in concert create headaches and frustration for our staff forcing them to do quick mental math and then go in and turn off the discount while there is a line building.

I have seen threads going back at least 6 years on these two issues. What exactly is the hold up getting these implemented?

I also am looking for this option.  We have a few products that we don't want to offer any discounts as they are already a very slim margin.  Please advise.  Thank you!  Seems so easy to put it at the ITEM level.  Allow discount Y or N.

I'd like to see this too, we want to be able to have sales on back issues. They are the bulk of our sku's, and without the ability to exclude either categories or items from discount without removing them from their original category it is not doable.

Please add this feature, it would greatly enhance our ability to do sales.

Another handy feature would be to restrict discounts to certain categories. Although you can set up automatic discounts by category, if an employee were to manually select one of the discounts, it applies to an entire sale… no matter what category the items are in.

We are a cafe and bakery. It would be nice to restrict discounts to specific categories. For instance, our bottled beverages are not valid for a discount but our prepared bakery items are. If a danish and bottle drink are purchased it would be nice to apply the discount to the transaction and only have the discount apply to the danish.

I 100% agree that this needs to be a thing. We should have both item and category level controls over what discounts work.
