Fire order from Expo KDS

Right now orders show up on the Prep and Expo KDS screens at the same time. We'd like to be able to fire items / courses from the Expo station to show up on the Prep screens. Our food is coursed out quite a bit and it would give us a much better way to communicate to the prep station when we're ready to fire a course.

Most places have a start line and a finish line for when they get a ticket in for an order. Lets say the customer ordered a sandwich and the start line see the item on the KDS screen. Once the start line puts the sandwich in the  conveyer oven it comes out to the finish line, where the team member will put the last parts on the sandwich and send it out to expo. The problem is that once the start line has finished with their part of the order and the sandwich is in the oven, the only option they have is to mark the item as complete which a) removes it from the finish lines screen & b) means that the timing is only for how long it takes for the sandwich to get in the oven, not how long it takes to get out to the customer.

It would be helpful if the system worked in away that:

- The order pops up on the Start lines screen

- Once they have it in the oven and have marked it as complete on the start lines KDS the order would then show up on the finish lines screen

- Once the finish line has marked the order as finished it would show up in a separate tab on the Expos KDS

- Expos KDS would have tabs showing: All orders placed, Orders at the Start line, orders at the Finish line, and orders coming out from the finish line.

We could use this as well, we have a similar workflow.

coursing the ability to fire and hold it would be nice even if the items only came into the KDS when fired instead of all courses at one time. seems like this is a major flaw

This is a nice feature and would help move square out of the normal pool of systems and give them a one up on toast and other like systems.

I’ve gone ahead and changed the status of this feature request to “Not Currently Planned”. You provided a great assessment on the potential business use/need for something like this on our platform from a seller’s perspective.

This is a useful tool for our Product Team to use as they build the future of our products. As more information becomes available, a Community moderator will come in and change the status letting all of the subscribed sellers know.
