Feature request for Payment links + Slight bug

Feature request for Payment links + Slight bug

Hi there

i have been using Square terminal for a couple of months now and can’t believe how amazing it all is! Wish I signed up sooner.

I have just found out about Payment Links and can see it would be great for our business, I really like that there can be 1 link which doesn’t need to be changed all the time. We could use the QR code to display the QR code on our shop for customers who are unable to Tap to Pay/Use their card

We are looking to use this Payment Links feature and would like to know if this is possible?

This picture is edited. I edited it to show a button which says “No Tip”, - it doesn’t currently say this. It would be nice to see this added, because customers have to go in “Other” then write £0 themselves - this could look bad for us as in it may seem they are forced to tip (which they are obviously not)

Another feature could be to allow businesses to choose the default tipping amounts Or to choose a set tipping percentage of the sale.  At the moment there are 3 options, £0.50, £1.00, and £2.00, however, our customers would likely be willing to tip a lot more, would it be possible to allow us to choose these values I.e, £5.00, £10.00, and £15.00, etc?

Even a percentage tip would be a good idea, such as 5%, 10%, or even 20% of the final sale.

A slight bug to point out - when using Apple Pay to pay via payment links, although it says our email and phone number is being sent to the merchant (Square), no receipt is being sent to the customer.

when customer pays through manual card entry, a receipt does get sent to them when email is inputted. Seems only Apple Pay doesn’t work (I haven’t tried Google Pay)

There is also another question, would there be more payment methods coming to this? At the moment there is ApplePay, GooglePay, and manual card entry. Would there be a possibility of PayPal, Clearpay or Klarna? We don’t expect our customers to use Klarna or Clearpay but definitely PayPal, and also other businesses may be interested in the Klarna/Clearpay options  - photo below for a rough idea

Hi @LF2024 , thanks for sharing your feature requests. I'm glad to hear you enjoy using the Square Terminal !

Payment Links

You are able to print a QR code, unique to a specific item from the Dashboard or the POS app. Here are a couple of resources that should be helpful:

You can also share the Payment Link with your customers directly from your Terminal by either:

  • select Payment Link as a payment method when checking out,
  • access the Payment Links tab in More > Payment Links > Share link.

Apple Pay

I wasn't able to recreate this behaviour on my end. If I use Apple Pay to checkout a Payment Link, I do receive a receipt by email. Since we don't have access to your account information on the Community, I suggest reaching out to our Support Team so they can escalate this to our engineering team for further review.

Tips

While the No Tip functionality is available on the Terminal and POS, it is not available on Square Online products (including Payment Links). I'll make sure to share your suggestion with our Product Team tough !

Additional Payment Methods

We recently deprecated Paypal on Square Online websites. Unfortunately, it is unlikely Paypal will be added to Square Point of Sale as a payment method in the future.

However, Clearpay is currently available in the UK for online and in-person payments. You can check if you're eligible and enable it on your Dashboard in Settings > Account & Settings > Payments > Payment Method. In additional, you can also check that it is enabled as a payment method directly from your Terminal in More > Settings >  Checkout > Payments. You'll also find more information about Clearpay and Square here.
