Enable the ability to scan barcodes using a camera on an android phone

Square is such a large company at this point, it really makes no sense that your android app is so inferior compared to the iphone app. It is missing basic features such as Barcode scanning with the camera. People who dislike apple devices shouldn't be punished while using your services with inferior products for no good reason. Even your amazing handheld device has this ability, and it runs a variation of android already.

@Tijanna720  I think the only reason Android doesn’t have the ability to scan by camera is because only one company makes the iPhone. There are many different phone companies that make’s phones that run Android. Every company has different cameras and sensors, so Square would have to probably write different “drivers” For each phone. That could be disastrous for the app, there could be all types of crashes.  I don’t know if this is the real reason, just my opinion

Shopify has the capability to scan barcodes for both iPhones and Androids, so why can't Square figure it out? Maybe it's time to change platforms...

Agreed! Square needs to do an overall better job of supporting Android - from AI photo editing, bar code scanning, etc. Shopify, Zettle (PayPal POS), etc. can figure it out, I think Square should be able to. I appreciate their focus on launching support for restaurants, appointments, etc., but they seem to have lost focus on their core retail product lately. Honestly, if I didn't have so much invested in Square POS hardware, I'd be switching - they still haven't figure out the Meta integration issues (that's a whole 'nother thread I'm following and frustrated with the support on).
