I'd like the option to enable an audible alert on Square card readers when a transaction is complete and a card remains inserted. We frequently have customers leave their cards in the reader after payment, especially when conversations or other tasks continue after checkout.
Our business offers both retail and dog grooming services, and it's common for staff to be discussing future appointments, scheduling, or product recommendations while the payment is processing. As a result, customers sometimes walk away before removing their card.
While we can often contact local customers, we're located in a tourist area and regularly serve visitors who may not realize their card was left behind until much later. Losing a card while traveling is stressful and inconvenient for customers, and it creates additional work for businesses trying to reunite cards with their owners.
An optional audible reminder, similar to those used by ATMs and other payment terminals, would help reduce forgotten cards and improve the customer experience.
