Delivery Option via Phone

I know this was considered at one time and I’m circling back on the subject.

The ability to take phone orders and then choose a delivery service such as DoorDash to complete the delivery request, would be a truly welcomed feature.

Although we also partner with a concierge delivery person, in addition to our on-demand DoorDash partnership through Square, they aren’t always available for the number of orders that we need.

Why have we not gotten an update on this? As far as I know, literally every other POS system has this capability and since deliveries can be entered online via the website, there is no reason they shouldn't be able to be entered in store on the POS for customers calling in over the phone to place delivery orders. We literally lose business almost daily due to this very basic feature that is lacking. As others have mentioned, especially the older customers that are not tech savvy would like the ability to order delivery without having to go online. This seems like a very simple fix from a programming standpoint.

We're using Shipday to dispatch all delivery orders.

Order parsing:
- When you place a delivery order manually via Square Register it automatically populates into Shipday

- All online orders (Square online, GrubHub, Slice etc) populate automatically into Shipday as well.

Dispatching:
- You can access it's dashboard via any computer, tablet or can put their app on your phone

- Orders can be dispatched manually or automatically to in-house or 3rd party drivers

Customer experience:

- Customers get a live tracking, pretty much like Uber/DoorDash

- On the tracking link you can add your own promo or advertisement

- After each order customers can leave an internal feedback and you can redirect them to Google reviews.

If someone needs assistance in setup feel free to let me know.

My guess is they must make more money on selling the API access to third party providers like doordash / uber eats then they would by adding the feature to the software. It sure seems like everything is already there to support it, and other developers have figured out a way to make it work, so that's the only obvious answer. I believe they get an additional cut of your sales when an order comes in through those services as well? My customer was mentioning something like that but he may have just been referring to the cut doordash takes.

In either case, that's the only reason I can think of, I've already said it a couple times in this post, and none of their forum moderators have called me out on it.

I will pass on the recommendation from @AlexGrant, while still an additional cost, at a glance it looks like Shipday might at least accomplish everything my customer wanted.

Prove me wrong Square, give us the reason that this hasn't been added yet and show everyone how uninformed I was.
