Coupon on top of automatic discount

I think it would be beneficial to be able to stack coupons on stop of automatic discounts. I'm all about adding value to my customers shopping experience and I run a pretty regular automatic discount. What I'd like to be able to do is run a limited bonus coupon code alongside that, but square removes coupon functionality once an auto discount is applied and only allows for entry of a gift card at check out.

I want to be able to offer an extra 5-10% off or $5 off on abandoned carts, even with my already discounted products. I know I personally love being able to apply multiple discounts when I'm shopping, so I'd like to be able to offer that same sense of value and savings to my customers.

You provided a great assessment on the potential business use/need for something like this on our platform from a seller’s perspective. This is a useful tool for our Product Team to use as they build the future of our products. As more information becomes available, a Community moderator will come in and change the status letting all of the subscribed sellers know.

I’m currently having the same

issue and have multiple automatic discounts, running a sale via coupon (since there is no option for a store wide sale still) and a customer wasn’t able to apply the limited time coupon. Would love to know the status of this update.

I have a customer who was placing an order for multiple items and only one of them had an automatic discount.  Because they cannot stack or combine coupons/discounts, the coupon would not apply to the other item.  Any time I do this, I have to create a custom item in my store for them to purchase at the discounted rate.

I think Square needs to work harder on making coupons and discounts more flexible for sellers.  I spend a lot of money every month for Square Marketing, Square Loyalty and text messaging.  But I can't give my customers an automatic discount on a product (e.g., 15% off all pizzas today) plus ADD on top a coupon for my text subscribers (e.g., thanks for being a text subscriber, not only get 15% off pizzas, but also here's a $3 off coupon).  It's so frustrating!! Why wouldn't a coupon code work in my online store on top of the automatic discount?  Why are those two things not compatible?  And every time people offer suggestions like this, Square just says "we'll open this up as a ticket and think about it" and nothing ever happens for YEARS.  I've been using Square for 10 years, and it's always like this.  PLEASE add in the option of being able to stack discounts and coupons.

Please Start working on this.  Seriously since 2023 and it still is not being implemented?  I need to be able to offer layered discounts for guest for special occasions.

I agree with this suggestion. We should be able to choose whether or not coupons and discounts are 'stackable'.

Here is my use-case situation:

I sell greeting cards which generally retail for $6 each. However, if users buy 8 or more of these items at a time, I automatically drop the per-unit sale price to $5 each. (This is a discount, as per Square's terminology).

I also want the ability to offer a 'free shipping' option for people who live in my local area - people who I can simply hand-deliver the items to their mailbox without paying for shipping. I created a coupon code for this, but Square only allows users to enter this coupon code if they have selected a combination of items that does not quality for an automatic discount.

As you can see, there is no reason for me to not be able to let customers get the discounted price and the free shipping in the same transaction. It would be a win-win situation for both me and my customers. But Square simply does not give my customers the ability to enter a coupon code if the shopping cart has already applied a discount.

Please give us the option of combining these two elements in a single transaction.

All for this, but keeping in mind at what point the discount coupon is applied, this should be to the basket value after the auto disco has been applied. All for sharing and giving some back but lets not go crazy, apply the coupons to the basket value after auto disco not to the basked pre-auto disco.

Would love to be able to offer this feature to our customers! 

We always have clearance items which are automatically discounted, but what is frustrating is that if customers want to also purchase something that is not on sale then they can't use a discount code anymore? 

It would be handy if we could be able to offer a discount code still but have it exclude clearance/automatic discount items?

I feel like this is frustrating for customers and in turn losing us sales as customers aren't able to easily shop for what they want. It's also not clear for customers as the discount code option is completely removed without saying why. 

Would love an update on this!
