Change employee sale attributed to

Our business is a hair salon that operates on commission. Sometimes our employees mis-attribute sales to other people who did not complete the sale. We need a way to edit these transactions and assign them to the correct employee for both accounting and payroll purposes. Because we use Payroll with commission, the employees who did not complete the sale end up getting paid, and the ones who actually made the sale do not. This is unacceptable.

There has to be a way to correct this ongoing problem. May as well start from scratch if in the end  if the data is wrong non one benefits The system should log out the prior salesperson, or a  new screen verifying the sales person

any updates? I also have this issue.... come on square

This is pathetic. Square continues to disregard ANY input from features that businesses need. How many more people need to request this before it becomes a feature? Square adds pointless features like Groupon when we are asking for a simple feature. I am looking at other options as Square's inability to solve this issue is extremely frustrating.

Hair Salon Here Also.  Many times...many.. one of us will be logged in and another comes to do a sale and previous was not logged out.

We're not paying attention to that kind of thing!

The fact that as an owner I cannot edit a sale that is attributed to the wrong person. MAKE IT A PERMISSION! Where the owner is the only one that can do so.

So much of your coding was focused on your reports and transactions, variations... you should be able to make this change considering how long this has been an issue. I write this here on page 7 of this thread. I'm pretty sure that this is not the only thread and discussion on the matter.

It's now 2023 and I'm hoping for new updates from Square regarding this feature that is desperately needed. As @Kassi_ has stated, "this has been a huge request from many sellers." I sincerely hope that Square will take its customers input and solve this. It is incredibly frustrating. Any updates?

Looking for an update on changing who a sale is attributed to after checking out. On Vagaro you can change who gets paid for a sale after check out and it's extremely useful. Has no solution come along in the past 3 years?

I’ve seen this enough on the boards that I feel compelled to offer a possible solution that balances Square’s need for data integrity with sellers’ needs to correct erroneous data. This thread is one that is filled with requests for this feature as quickly as possible.

I understand that Square is reticent to change the employee who closed out a transaction. Would this compromise work?

Add new fields to the transaction record. I envision these containing an override employee who would get credit for/payment for a sale. Also there would be audit fields showing the employee who entered the overrode, date, time, etc. This function would be restricted to certain employees, initially owners only.  The point is to keep the erroneous attribution for audit trail purposes while offering a way to correct it transparently.

While one override should be sufficient in most cases, it might be wise to plan the fact someone messes up and has to re-override. In this case, a lot of historical overrides would be necessary for audit purposes. The transaction record would only contain the most recent override. This most recent override would be used for payroll if needed, for reports, etc.

I believe this could (with refinement) satisfy everyone’s needs, including Square’s.

Hi all. I tried to brainstorm a possible solution to this issue. It took a while but I think I came up with one. So I submitted it to the feature board here. Check it out and if you agree like it so Square can see the interest. Also feel free to add suggestions or comments if I missed something. But I think my suggestion covers the bases and gives Square a way to retain their data integrity while adding this obviously needed feature.

At the very least, Square users with full access should be allowed to edit who the sale is attributed to when the sale is given to the wrong employee.   This causes reporting to be incorrect & the lack of this feature is preventing me from using Square for Payroll.

Agreed that it should be an easy fix here @kpay1? If we can change/add a customer to a transaction post processing surely it should be an option to change/add the sales person?
