Change employee sale attributed to

Our business is a hair salon that operates on commission. Sometimes our employees mis-attribute sales to other people who did not complete the sale. We need a way to edit these transactions and assign them to the correct employee for both accounting and payroll purposes. Because we use Payroll with commission, the employees who did not complete the sale end up getting paid, and the ones who actually made the sale do not. This is unacceptable.

Has anyone tried calling Customer support 1-855-700-6000

Maybe that will get them moving?

Just a thought.

The original post was in 2022 — we are now in 2025. We have AI. ChatGPT could code a patch for this. Is Square even being run right now? Who is their product manager? Wake up. Customers are telling you what we want and we will leave you for competitors who actually can provide the features we are looking for. Get someone on this with Critical status.

Hi Isabelle,

I noticed this request has been open for 5 years now. Do you think we can expect Square to implement these features soon? I think 5 years is a reasonable time for something that’s basic and included in most POS systems.

Thanks,

Mitin

@kpay1 any update on this request?

@mitin I have seen no replies from Square and still waiting..

Thanks,

Great idea @ColonialBarber, if we let Square know we are still waiting maybe this will get attention.

I understand your frustration with the Square community and their handling of feature requests and basic functionality. It's incredibly disappointing when you invest time and effort into providing feedback, especially for what seems like fundamental POS capabilities, only to see those requests linger for years without resolution.

It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue where companies may categorize essential functionalities as "feature requests" to manage expectations or internal development priorities. This can lead to a feeling of being unheard and a lack of accountability, as you've pointed out.

You're right – basic functions that an average POS system should have shouldn't be treated as groundbreaking innovations. It's about providing a reliable and efficient tool for businesses, and when core elements are missing or poorly addressed, it impacts day-to-day operations significantly.

Your feedback highlights a crucial point: the value of a community forum diminishes if the company isn't truly responsive to the input, especially when it concerns critical operational needs. It's disheartening to feel that your voice, and the voices of other users, aren't leading to tangible improvements.

Hi

Not to make this into a rant, but I am very frustrated with these lack of basic functionalities from square, my top 3 being

  1. Inability to Track Square Appointments with Google Analytics/Google Ads
  2. Inability to Edit Staff Assignment Post-Transaction
  3. Inability to Book Multiple Services with Different Technicians

Does anyone have any workaround these? I have tried to contact Square, but some requests have been open for 10 years. There has been no progress. I doubt Square cares about our requests. This makes me think that these community forums are not helpful anymore.

I would like to hear your thoughts. Do you have any recommendations for other POS systems? I think I may need to accept my losses with Square

I totally agree...at least allow permission for the Owner/ Admin to go in and split the commission daily or weekly.

Am I missing something here, this Seems like such a simple request.

HI @ColonialBarber It is a very simple function, anyone that has every worked retail or register knows these mistakes are common.

Someone @kpay1 doesn't seem to think its important, i have been complaining for months about this to Square,  Now I have accepted that square isn't going to do anything, so have decided I am going to bite the bullet, take the loss on the hardware and slowly transition out of square to something else.

I don't see how I can justify paying square monthly fee for appointments but then having to spend hours every week doing commission calculations
