Cash Rounding

Cash Rounding

People have been asking for the ability to round up hundreds of times, and Square indicates they can't do it, but in Canada, they got rid of the Penny years ago, and Square has a Cash Rounding feature already built into doing this.

It makes no sense that you can't add a feature to the US version allowing a business to round up or down cash sales automatically. Ideally, you could have user-selectable options for rounding - up only or up or down - plus amount to round to 0.05 or 0.10 or 0.25 or $1 rounding. Then, please create an account where this money could be tracked so users could apply it to a charity or an employee fund.

At the very least, let customers in the US turn on the Cash Rounding feature you've already built for Canada.

See this recent article on the Penny - if Square were to make a big announcement about getting rid of the penny, it might move the issue forward. Having my staff have to deal with pennies is a waste of time - please help us get rid of them.

Our bank is out of pennies, square better have a rounding feature in the next few days.

our banks only have few days left too and by law we have to accept cash. Let's go square hurry up. you have known about this for awhile

I just want to jump on the rounding train.  This is about to be a very big issue very soon.  There needs to be a setting that does this automatically in the system when someone is paying with cash.

Adding to the stream of comments coming in that the bank informed me that they will no longer provide or accept pennies. Looking for solutions for rounding ASAP

With the US Mint officially stopping pennies, our bank has been telling us that in the next few months, we will no longer be able to get pennies. What is Square's plan to allow for rounding up/down to the nearest [coin value] so that we can keep the drawer balanced.

There is an option to include sales tax, but that doesn't' work well in the US where we want to show the tax as a separate line item.

Please please please this would save us such a huge headache as all the banks near us are already out of pennies. We're currently winging it and it sucks.

Just received a notice from our bank that they will no longer be receiving pennies. I would like to get ahead of this now.

@dwbatch We have been tax inclusive for several years. We did it as a means of making change for guests an easier process as sometimes when we are slammed, we are incredibly busy. The problem has become an issue with staff who are pricing items sometime seem to forget about the 9.75% sales tax or the 24.75% LBD tax that I have to back out each month and pay to the State of TN. We are making the change back to adding on sales tax to our items effective March 1st and my staff is panicking. I'm not sure why as 80% of our orders are credit cards. I think the rounding down should be fairly simple. I wonder if we are all a little nervous with this new "penniless" system just because its something new. Let the excitement continue for the self-employed!

This is an immediately needed feature!

I would like to propose: the customer sees 2 Totals. "Credit Card" and "Cash", which would be calculated based off of dashboard checkout settings - cash round up/cash round down. Cashier chooses "Cash", and the POS displays the correct change based off the dashboard settings.
