Cash Drawer & All Activity Audit Trail/log

I understand that we can restrict access for some things, but that's not good enough for the system you have. If someone is being sneaky, its not hard to see what a co-worker's passcode is. I need to be able to track things by the time so I can go back on the camera & see what was going on during that time. For example, when the cash drawer opens outside of a sale. It would be great to see what time the drawer was opened, by who, & if they're using someone else's passcode and compare that to the camera feed. I can't really restrict the girls from opening outside a sale as that is where the checks are to pay vendor's upon deliveries. I also have items that changed & it was not done by either manager, so being able to see who is doing said changes & when would be awesome. Basically, when they log in, it would be very helpful to know where all they went & what all they did. The non-technology register tracked that & made it easy to know when to go back on the camera, so I am sure this system can too. I wish all people were trustworthy & most are, but when you run into the one who's not trustworthy, how is your system helping me figure it out? The old register made it easier to figure things out when something wasn't right.

Activity Logs needs a major update. There should be a log of everything happening on the register. For example, we should be able to check the logs to see when an item was deleted from the cart mid-transaction or even when a transaction was cancelled before taking payment. I appreciate that we can see when discounts are applied, but that isn't enough.

EDIT: I also want to double down on OP's statement about logging when the cash drawer is opened as a "no sale" too.

Just tossing my hat in to agree that canceled transactions should be viewable in the activity log.

I agree, I have a suspicion one of my employees is floating drinks across tabs and I can't track items transferred from one tab to another. I want to be able to see the time an item was entered and saved on an open ticket and if it was moved later.

In fact we need to have activity log on each and every check. Like who opened the check, who else made changes to the check. Right now we only know who opened the check and who collected a payment. Things that happen between is hard to track. Toast gives a complete log from the time a check is opened and the time it was closed. We need something like that in square.

I agree logging is essential to all restaurant/bar needs these days. It can pinpoint problems on the fly not just with theft but analytics as well but it also makes the managers job as easy while telling the story of the ticket at the same time. We would love to see logging in the fullest as well.
