Allow Variable discounts to apply to individual items or a blanket discount for end price.

I would love to see the ability to apply a variable discount to specific items at checkout for Square Retail.

Currently, when we need to discount a specific item, we have to just change the price or use a discount already set. However, we have different priced items, and the "set discounts" don't work because when applying a percentage or dollar amount, it doesn't calculate properly when we want to have a flat price sale.

For example:

wallet 1 $45
wallet 2 - $40
wallet 3 - $50


I want to be able to run a sale and set up an automatic discount where I can say, all wallets are $25.

The only current workaround is to apply a different discount to each different price. This is redundant and a waste of time 😞 I wish I could set an automatic discount to say, all items in this category are now priced $25.

Please make this happen!!

If not, then at least allow me to apply a variable $ discount to the item! Again, I would have to set up multiple discounts to apply at checkout. When I do a custom $ discount, it applies to the whole sale and doesn't reflect all the savings to the one item it is meant for.

We really need variable $ discounts on individual items.

In our case the big thing is manufacturer coupons. We're part of a loyalty rewards program where the manufacturers provide constantly changing deals that may only last for a month, a week, or sometimes even 1-3 days. And they aren't always a preset dollar amount, it could be something like buy 5/get 2 free and they can pick from multiple options for their free items.

So the cashier has to apply the discount at the cart level for the total, which could be more than one deal for multiple items. And when it's applied to every item then it's a problem if anything from that cart gets returned and we're recapturing an automatic percentage of the discount, rather than knowing if the returned item was related to the discount or not and how much.

I can see how helpful having variable dollar discounts on individual items would be. I’ve gone ahead and changed the status of this feature request to “Open”. You provided a great assessment on the potential business use/need for something like this on our platform from a seller’s perspective. This is a useful tool for our Product Team to use as they build the future of our products. As more information becomes available, a Community moderator will come in and change the status letting all of the subscribed sellers know. Thank you again for your input.
