Adding an automated service fee to POS

We have decided to remove tipping for our business and add an admin fee to our total sales to level the playing field for our back of house and front of house salaries. However, the POS doesn’t allow for an automated admin fee add-on, but only for online sales. We desperately need this automated feature in the Point of Sale for walk-in customers but it is only letting us do it manually for every transaction. This becomes cumbersome - the counter staff will forget to charge customers and if you have 300-500 transactions per day- it would be impossible to capture and add this fee manually at every transaction.

There should be a section under Settings

> checkout > Admin Fee 

just like the sales tax feature under Settings - it becomes automated at every transaction.

please help!

if this doesn’t become a feature soon, we will be forced to move to another POS system like TOAST which has this feature.

Looking for Square to add ability to auto-apply service charges for POS transactions.

Specifically, we're trying to add a 10% service fee to every POS transaction and want to ensure that any service fees will be subject to any applicable sales taxes in the transaction (and applied at the same proportion of the varying tax rates on the various products in the transaction).  So for example, if there were a 10% and 15% sales tax rate on varying products in the transaction, the respective rates would be applied based on the proportion that both were applied to each of the products.   

The reason is because most states regard a surcharge as part of the product price, so it makes sense to apply the sales tax to the surcharge in the same proportions that the sales tax rates are applied to the items in the transactions.

As this could affect filings with state and local governments, it's time sensitive.  Please consider adding asap.  Thank you,

In the meantime, I would suggest reaching out to a Tax Advisor so they can point out how to better setup your Taxes and Services charges in Square so you may comply with any laws or regulations from your state.

Hi there - Similarly we are attempting to use the "Service Charge" functionality to collect a Service Fee, which is distinctly different in our state from an Automatic Gratuity and carries different legal requirements for both wages and taxes. We collect the Service Fee on all checks but currently don't have the ability to automatically apply it to every transaction. Instead, we have to do this manually for every check, which is extremely tedious.

We would also like to have an automatic service charge be able to be added - best scenario would be to have it as part of a Locations settings that can be turned on (and off) based on location. We do 'on location' sales and would like to be able to charge an 'on location' service charge, but not have it charged when a sale is made at our store location.

We're having to collect service charges via adding a second sales tax.  In CA, we have to pay sales tax on service charges.  Since it's set up as a sales tax, we can't collect sales tax on a sale tax.  It needs to be automatic because we process hundreds of transactions per day and do not want to place that burden on our cashier to remember to manually add the service charge with each transaction.  Please enhance to make it automatic.
