cancel coupons

How do I cancel all the coupons sent through marketing emails? Is there an easier way than having to go into each customer profile?

Hi @Gmongiello.. There are two answers to this, as well as a caution.

If the coupon was one that was automatically generated by Square Marketing when you sent the email, there is no way other than going into each customer profile to whom the campaigns were sent.  These coupons are the ones that are autogenerated by marketing using the “create new” option in marketing campaigns.

If, however, you created a coupon and then attached/inserted it into a marketing campaign (using the “use existing” option when creating a campaign), you could theoretically just expire the coupon for all customers, which would have the effect you desire, I think.

The caution….  If a customer comes in with a coupon that says it is “good until xx/xx/xx” or that says it never expires, then there are going to be questions.  I am sure you are already aware of this, but if I were doing this I’d want a good script that all employees would be required to follow when those inevitable questions and complaints arise.  This is because there is a black hole here when we manually expire coupons — customers will not receive an email or other communication letting them know that a coupon they received is no longer valid.  I just wanted you to be aware of that fact if you are not, already.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your answer. The expiration date wasn't set to what I requested. I guess it went back to the default. However, it was specifically stated in the text, so no issues there. I was just wondering if there was an easier way to just void them, but I guess not since they were individually auto generated per customer.

Thanks!

Ah.  That makes your question a lot clearer.  Yes, as far as I know you’ll need to do this manually.  If I may, in the future I would recommend setting up a coupon manually and then including it as an existing coupon in your marketing campaigns.  That makes editing coupons much easier, for sure.
