Loyalty Rewards - Tier based benefits?

Hi!

Is there a way to create special rewards for specific tiers? I know you can type in "other benefits" when creating tiers but I don't see a way to add multiple benefits/choices when creating an automated birthday email/text coupon.

For example, we might want to give:

  • tier 2 free birthday dessert
  • tier 3 choice of free birthday dessert or appetizer
  • tier 4 choice of free birthday dessert, appetizer, or margarita.

(Might not be exact benefits we land on, but just some examples of how I would like to configure possible)

Hey there @Cskylar.. Tier-based rewards are not possible with Square Loyalty, currently.  You can submit a feature request here to add to the ever-growing list of loyalty features that we all want and need.  A word to the wise -- the feature request process is not quick.  Square has to determine that your feature has wide appeal before spending time and money on it.  The, if they do add it to the roadmap, it takes time to design, code and test if before rolling it out.  I have questions for you. Do you have an existing Square Loyalty program, or are you just setting one up? (Trust me, I hope that is the case).  If you do, about how many customers are signed up?  I ask these questions because you COULD use a third-party app from the Square App Marketplace, but believe me when I say that there is not a straightforward way to get the information you need to transition.

Thanks for the response!

It is interesting they have the "Other benefits" box for each tier, but don't have a way to provide those other than I suppose manually doing so.

It also sucks you can't add other benefits for the base tier. Say, for example we want to give a free dessert on their birthday but the only place to notate that is in the other benefits, which you can't do in the base tier. I guess they will just get the automated email, but it won't be listed anywhere as a benefit for that tier.

We do not have a loyalty program. We are just switching to square for the first time and have an extremely limited budget right now.

You're welcome.  Trust me when I say that I have similar thoughts and feelings about Square Loyalty, right now.  A few years ago, it looked like it was on track to be an industry-class feature.  Then we seemed to run into a brick wall with upgrades, new features, etc.  Honestly, even as a Square Champion, I'm strongly considering moving on to a third-party loyalty app.

On that note, follow this link to the Square App Marketplace results for a search on "loyalty."  I can't recommend any one, not having used them in a real-world setting.  But many have free trial periods so you can check them out, ask questions, etc.  I've looked at Pintuna, Subport and TapMango, and found each of them promising.  My only issue with switching is that I have over 3000 loyalty customers in a program that has spanned 3+ years.  Because Square doesn't give me an export function with current points, tier, etc, I would have to manually, one-by-one, create a spreadsheet of status to switch current loyalty participants.  Not ideal, or even practical, really.  If I do switch, I'd have to ask customers to sign up themselves, since they can see their points on their status page.  But, again, not ideal.  Ugh.

Anyway, good luck.
