How to create an in-store only coupon through a Square Marketing email campaign

Hello, I am trying to send a coupon through an email marketing campaign but I want it to be redeemable in-store only, not online. How can I do this?

Hi @oldtownsmothieb - Great question!

To create an in-store only coupon, I recommend using a percentage-off coupon with a maximum discount amount, as this coupon type can only be redeemed in-person.

Here's how to set it up:

- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and navigate to Customers > Marketing > Campaigns > Create Campaign
- For the Campaign Type, select Offer a Coupon, then click Design
- Click on the Coupon section within the editor to open the Edit Coupon panel on the right-hand side of the screen

- In the Edit Coupon panel, configure the following settings:

- Select Create new
- For the Coupon Type, choose Percentage off and set your desired percentage
- Enter a value in the Maximum value field (this is crucial as it restricts the coupon to in-store use only)
- Under Applies to, select either Entire sale, Category, or Specific item
- For the Code Type, choose either Autogenerated or Custom
- Add a clear Description
- Set your Active dates
- Decide whether to allow customers to share on Facebook
- Click Done
- Click Select Audience and follow the remaining prompts to distribute your coupon

For fixed-price or free item coupons, consider creating a separate item that's only available in-store. Then select Applies to: Specific item and choose that item to prevent online redemptions. The same approach works with Categories if you have items in categories that aren't available online.
