Better Perks for Loyalty Tiers

Hi

I want to start implementing the Loyalty Tiers in my business to encourage more repeat visits by loyal customers.

While giving customers the ability to earn more points for each purchase is a good start, I wish we could offer better perks so more people are incentivized to reach higher tiers and stay there.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Customers in our loyalty program currently earn 1 point for every $10 spent with us and we only have 1 tier.

I would like to implement 3 tiers: Current Base Tier will be Silver then Gold and Platinum.

For customers that spend over $100 per quarter with us (10 points) they get upgraded to Gold where they earn 1.25 points for every $10 purchase and get a 5% discount as long as they stay within the tier.

For customers that spend $250 per quarter with us (25 points) they get upgraded to Platinum where they earn 1.5 points for every $10 purchase,  get 10% discount and a free ice cream pint on their birthday as long as they stay within the tier

Is this something that can be done with the current Loyalty product? If not, is there a Beta in the works that could address this?

Hello @lulietbakery !

This definitely is possible with the current setup! I do this as well with 5%, 10%, and 20% discounts depending on the tier level.

When your customers enter a new tier, Square automatically puts their name into a customer group for that loyalty tier name. For me, my "gold" tier creates a Loyalty Gold group in the Customer Directory. So you'll need to tap that group for the discount.

For each tier, you'll need to create an automated discount. Choose the Customer Group for the "Apply Discount To" popup. In the next screen choose your loyalty tier group. Finish filling out the rest of the discount as needed.

Now, whenever your loyalty tier customer purchases something, that discount will automatically apply.

A few warnings about this:

-Be sure to link your loyalty customer to the sale before completion of the sale to ensure the discount applies.

-This is not available for online ordering. This IMO is a huge oversight from the dev team and I really hope that someone somewhere is working on fixing this.

Hope this helps!

@DinaLRosenberg  Yup! They've been out for a while, but on the surface they just look like a way to give loyal customers extra stars. You'll need to dig into the customer directory a bit to really make them work for you.

That’s very interesting Ryan. What do you mean by “dig into the customer directory a bit to make it work for you”?

@lulietbakery  Mostly that you'll need to interact with the customer directory to dig into the data around each tier level. You can also send directed marketing campaigns to the tiers plus the already mentioned automatic discounts.
