How to update your Square Community profile and username

In this post you'll learn how to update your community profile, including editing your profile avatar image and changing your community username. Customizing your profile page is a great opportunity to connect with other members and promote your business. 

How to update your profile information

Your profile is visible to everyone who visits the Square Community. To build it out or make changes to your profile, follow these steps: 

1. Sign into the community
2. Click on your username in the top righthand corner
3. Click My Settings
4. Under the tab labelled PERSONAL, click Personal Information
5. In this section you can add details like your name, your business name (company), describe your role, or enter your job title, location, and business website.

📌 PRO TIP: use the Biography section to talk about your areas of expertise, your interests, or even share the Square products that you need help with, or that you feel comfortable answering questions about. Text entered here will be visible on your profile page.

Click Save and you're good to go!

How to change your avatar photo 

1. Sign into the community
2. Click on your username in the top righthand corner
3. Click My Settings
4. Click the tab labelled AVATARS 
5. You will see your current avatar, where you can upload a new image. We encourage you to upload a photo of yourself or your business. We have found that seeing real faces of our members brings us closer together and can help you make more genuine connections in the community. Once your image is uploaded, click SAVE AND CONTINUE, then SAVE to complete.
6. If you don't upload a personal photo, a color + shape avatar will be automatically assigned to you based on the first letter of your username. 

 

How to update your community username

1. Sign into the community
2. Click on your username in the top righthand corner of the screen
3. Click My Settings
4. Under the tab labelled PERSONAL, click Username
5. From here, update your username, then click Change Username and you're all set!

📌 Please note: Usernames are given on a first come, first serve basis, so the one you want may not be available. There is a 16 character limit.

 

 

Use profiles to learn about other community members

If you hover your mouse over any avatar in the community, a box will pop up with more information about that member, including their job title, website, community level, when they joined the community, and the recent badges they've earned. 

From this pop up, you can also send the member a private message, or click View Profile to learn more about them. You can also get an idea of how experienced they are in the Square Community by checking the number of threads they've authored, how many solutions they've written, and how many likes they've received.
