Hi Square fam — long overdue intro from a Square Champion 👋

It’s wild to think how long I’ve been with Square, how much it’s grown—and that I’ve never properly introduced myself here!

I’m Briant, and my wife and I own Empanada City in Brooklyn, NY. We serve Dominican- and Puerto Rican-inspired empanadas, delicious smoothies, and a few desserts that’ll make you rethink your sweet tooth.

We opened our doors in 2017 with zero restaurant experience—just passion, hustle, and a vision. Square has been with us from day one. From card processing to payroll, marketing, loyalty, and even our website, Square’s ecosystem has been a game changer for us. We’re constantly impressed by how the platform keeps innovating and helping small businesses like ours punch above our weight.

From empanadas to apps 🍴📱

Recently, we ran into a challenge: we needed a mobile app for our customers to order ahead, earn loyalty points, send gift cards, and more—all fully integrated with Square.

Instead of settling, I decided to build it myself. That app is now live for Empanada City—and it's been a hit with our customers. 

But we didn’t stop there. We realized tons of other Square sellers could benefit from the same experience. So we built a white-labeled version that lets any Square business launch a fully branded iOS and Android app in just days.

That’s how Gegsy was born—and today, we’re proud to be a Square App Marketplace partner! We have also signed up a few other business that have onboarded onto Gegsy to power their mobile apps.
