Test purchase - I am confused - can someone please advise me

Hi I am new to Square Reader.  At 11 am on Sunday Sept 11 - I did a test purchase of $1 just to make sure it worked, as the documentation advises me to. I then refunded the payment transaction with the Reason: Accidental charge.

 

I have my Square cut off set at 7 pm with the payment arriving the next business day. According to my documentation - Payments taken on Fri, Sat Sun by 7 pm should arrive in the bank account on the Monday


Today Monday, Sept 12 (the next business day ) - The credit card I charged, shows the credit for $1 but not the initial charge of $1 leaving the credit card in a credit balance of $1.....?

 

The bank account shows absolutely no transactions.

 

My Square Dashboard Transaction screens show both the purchase of $1 and the refund of $1. This seems really odd to me. 

Is there usually a timing difference ? Freaking out a bit that I did something incorrectly and I really need to get this right. Have I done something wrong ?

ok I talked to Square on the phone.   I didnt realize a couple of things.  Since I did the refund so quickly and there were no other sales, the net was 0 and so nothing for Square to transmit (I thought they would have sent a record of both transactions to my account - my mistake on that.)  As well I didnt realize that Square refunds the whole amount - how awesome is that!, I thought they kept their fee for the transaction even if it was refunded.

 

The credit card just showing a credit and not the original charge, I will have to assume that is just a timing diff and it will show up.

 

I will do another test and not refund this one and I am sure everything will go smoothly.

 

I guess this is the reason I am doing a test purchase, learning a lot !
