These themes are meant to give you a head start when building a brand-new site, so they can't be applied to an existing site. 

Luckily, you can always change any part of your site in the Site Design section of your Editor.

Excited to try Square Online out.  Helping a friend build out their website since they are now currently overhauling their business mode.  They use Square to process payments but I informed them that square can literally be their all-in-one.  Build a website, marketing features, and payroll.....I mean it's an easy choice right lol 🙂

This is not working for me. I created a NEW SITE and the option to choose a theme is not there.

I was discussing this with Square's Chat Support and they said to try an create a NEW LOCATION, then a NEW SITE ... however, the option to choose the THEME is still not available. NOW, I can't delete that NEW LOCATION, only deactivate it.

Support also suggested to try and create a brand new account ... that can't happen because I have multiple devices and historic data, not to mention the credit history.

I think this is tooooooo new a feature and I'm going to assume like all other issues, Square will wait for someone to post something substantial on this community. So it will probably be up to the community to find a solution.

They need to clearly advertise that the THEMES feature is ONLY available for NEW ACCOUNTS ONLY and NOT for NEW SITES. This means, brand new account, no history, no transactions, no nothings. If you have gift cards associated with your account and thinking about opening a new account, guess what, that won't work either.

As it appears that Square is doing something, it is clear they are only doing things to attract NEW customer subscribers to fall into this ecosystem. They are clearly using FEATURE REQUESTS as ammunition to attract the next batch of subscribers. Loyal customers are already stuck so no reason to spend time on us.

Frustrated because I've been chatting with support for 3 hours to be bounced from one person to another and have no solution. I guess this is the new generation of work ethic.

This does not work on existing accounts and it does not work when you create a New Site. You have to be a New Subscriber. This is marketing directed only to get new subscribers. For us leftovers, we have to work with what we have.

Nope. Good luck with that. I just spent 5 hours trying to get this to work and even paid for a subscription upgrade. AND, I deleted the site I was working on in hopes that it would work with a fresh site.

At this time, the suggested solutions haven't resolved the issue because your account is not eligible for these features, your account was created in March 2022 before we had these themes available. As mentioned by @clairea, this feature is only available for all new Square Online sellers. 

Your feedback regarding the need for clearer communication about the limitations of the THEMES feature is crucial and we will make sure to take this in for consideration. Your input is valuable, and it helps Square understand the real-world challenges users are encountering. It's unfortunate that you've had a frustrating experience, and we hope that Square can work towards a resolution that better suits your needs.

It is still unfortunate because existing customers are still out of luck.

Hopefully the company will get the right developers at Weebly to enable this basic feature of changing Themes for existing members.

Why is this only available to New Customers? Those of us who already pay, and have been paying for some time do not get the better features? These new templates look great but we are stuck with the old basic site even though we pay the same amount monthly for plus? Our money gave you the money to build out the new features yet we cannot access? Please explain.

Is there a timeline on when themes will be live for existing square sellers with square online stores? I am on the free version and this will tip me over to transition from my other solution over to Square paid plans. Migrating is a hassle and getting a head start with theme is very helpful

As some have mentioned, Square Online website themes are only available to new Square Online sellers. We are working to extend the availability of the feature to all sellers and should have an updated date early next year. 

In the mean time, I recommend taking a look at all the customization features we launched to help you build a professional, branded website in this blog post. All themes use the same customization features available to you today that you can incorporate into your existing site. We also have some great tutorial videos to make the most of these features including:

• Customizing the main hero banner
• Adding featured item sections
• Customizing site elements
• Setting up shopping pages
• Setting up product detail pages
• Updating the site favicon and site icon

So my suggestion to you would be to reward loyal customers with something similar regardless of plan. Existing customers are appealing to new customers and can sway the opinions of potential new customers. If your existing loyal customers are happy, they will recommend your services. If not, they can sway them to look elsewhere.

So, if i go direct through Weebly, I can get square integration via the app, have access to the themes, and it will still be cheaper than my Square plus account? Just making sure I understand how short the end of the stick is that I am holding.....

In order to use Square Online website themes, your website must be built using Square's website editor. Square Online website themes will not work with Weebly's website editor. 

If you would like to change the theme of your Square Online website (you must already be on a Square Online professional or plus plan), you will need to speak with our Support Team by phone, you can give us a call at 855-700-6000 between 6am-6pm Pacific Time Monday-Friday.

I don't get it and it's something I've wondered for a while. Why have two platforms that basically do the same thing - weebly and square site builders? It would seem logical to either get rid of the poorest performing platform or grab the best of both and combine them into one solid, better offering. Any insights would be great.

I have a plus account. I have had one for a few years. One of my goals for this year is to improve my website and hopefully increase the online part of my business. I don't have access to your new features because I am an existing customer. So I started looking around. A weebly site with the same features is cheaper, and so far as I can tell, using the square integration app would give me all the same functionality of a square site. What I am asking is what benefits are there to my paying for a plus account under these circumstances? Is there a benefit to a square site over a weebly site that I am missing?

Here are the differences between our two site-building platforms:

Square Online 

-Uses our latest section-based site editor that has the best features for everything ecommerce. 
-Is best used for actions like managing products and orders between your website and Square Point of Sale, to integrating with social platforms to sell products on networks like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
-Has many of the standard website features you need to be more engaging and successful such as SEO tools, contact forms, blog-style pages, design options, domains, and email.
-Directly integrates and syncs with Square’s vast suite of products automatically.
-When you sign up for an account directly at squareup.com, you’ll only have access to the Square Online platform (i.e. not Weebly), but you’ll have access to the rest of Square’s products within the same account. This allows you to quickly manage your entire product suite by creating items, managing orders, reviewing reports, and growing your business from one place.

Weebly

-Uses our classic drag-and-drop site editor that has the best features for sharing information and blogs.
-Is best used for setting up informational websites that don’t involve ecommerce (e.g. blogs or portfolios). It also has themes that allow you to quickly style your website’s look and feel.
-Does have some ecommerce features, but you’ll be limited in how much you can do (e.g. you won’t have access to setting up local delivery and self-serve ordering, or integrating directly with social platforms).
-Doesn’t directly integrate or sync with Square’s vast suite of products automatically.
-When you sign up for an account directly at weebly.com, you’ll be taken to a page where you can choose what kind of site to create: either a business website built with the Square Online platform (as if you’d signed up directly with Square) or a personal website built with the Weebly platform. Choosing the personal website option will give you the Weebly experience, which doesn’t include Square’s suite of products in the same account.

Hi @clairea do you have an update on when the expansion will be done. I've been messing around with what is available to us on weebly, but like everyone else I feel it's unfair that new customers are getting better features.
