Square For Restaurants - Send open (unpaid) orders to the KDS

When testing the native Square KDS I noticed order are only appearing on the tablet once they have been finalised. Being a table service restaurant this does not really follow the sequence of service. We are keen to eliminate paper wastage and capture kitchen performance stats while we are at it. I was wondering if there is any config that can be done to enable this functionality?

On your point of sale's device settings, make sure you have the "open tickets" function turned on. This should add a "send" button to your ticket screen. This will let you save your unpaid tickets and the items should be automatically sent to your KDS even though payment hasn't been finalized yet. If that doesn't work, there might be a setting on your KDS regarding how orders appear that needs to be looked at. Hope that helps!
