Is there a way to duplicate an item?

I am constantly entering new items and it would be so much easier if I could just duplicate an existing item and modify it's name and/or sku. Is there a way to do this?

I don't think there's a direct way in Square, but if you're doing a lot of them, it may be better to download your item list, make the duplications in a spreadsheet program, then import the new list back to Square.

@VictoriaKing We are working add improvements to the item library but there isn't a way to duplicate at item at this time! Keep in touch for updates!

Hey @NRKRAHN thanks for the feedback and welcome to the Seller Community. I know that it can feel super frustrating when a feature that could be really useful to your business isn't released. Please know we are tracking all feature requests that come through to the Square Team and that we do bubble each one up to the Development Team. 

In the meantime, the best way to duplicate an item will be to export your item library and copy/paste that item into a new row, then make the changes needed in the CSV file (make sure to remove the item token in the duplicated item). You will then need to import your CSV file back into Square to have the changes take affect. Also, I would only recommend this option if you were duplicating multiple items as this would be an excessive workaround if you were trying to duplicate one or two items.

Absolutely agree....duplicating an item and modifying its name/sku/ details is an ESSENTIAL feature, and should be an easy add on!! For example, I have to hand enter size variations for every tee shirt we carry. It would be MUCH more efficient to be able to duplicate the item and change the name/stock instead of starting fresh with 5 same variations for each new item. Exporting/importing is a hassle....this should be easily handled within the app or site. I’m certain a duplication feature would help most ALL types of businesses in some way and should be addressed quickly.

@ Joe_  Really would like to bump the request up to duplicate an item within the Online Store. This is where I a'm creating most of my items these days since we need to set prep times, web catagories etc. Still have to back track to the Dashboard to enable track inventory and enter quantities but that is less important than getting stuff on our web ASAP.
