Gantt Chart View Before Publishing Schedule

Gantt Chart View Before Publishing Schedule

Team Management: Schedule > Shifts

We love the Gantt chart view available in Workday section of Shifts.  However, it only populates after shifts have been Published.

I would like a Gantt chart view in the Pre-Publishing phase.

The Gantt chart view would visually allow me to see gaps in the schedule.  At the moment I have turned to Excel to create a Gantt view and then go back into Square...I've also contemplated using a different service...but I figured I would let you know first...a Gantt chart view would really help in the Pre-Publishing phase.

Gantt chart!  Imagine being able to see gaps in coverage at a glance before publishing the schedule!

Similar to the Workday view already provided after the schedule is published.

I would like to revive this thread! I would love the feature of being able to edit future shifts in the workday view! Shouldn't be a crazy ask??

Hey there, @Dulcedo_Coffee -

I’ve gone ahead and changed the status of this feature request to “Not Currently Planned”. You provided a great assessment on the potential business use/need for something like this on our platform from a seller’s perspective. This is a useful tool for our Product Team to use as they build the future of our products.

As more information becomes available, a Community moderator will come in and change the status letting all of the subscribed sellers know. Thank you for adding your voice @Moongoatcm !

Oof, frustrating that it's not planned! I also requested last year in an hour-plus phone conversation with someone from Square who was soliciting feedback on Teams/Shifts.

This an extremely handy feature of the “day view” in When I Work, because you can just scan down the screen vertically and see if you have sufficient coverage at any given hour. You can also re-sort the whole grid by start time, so it looks just like the Workday report in Square. In any day view of When I Work, there’s a Total row at the bottom, so you can see how many people are working each hour, and it fills in vertically. This is nice because if you have typical hourly sales patterns, you can double-check that your staffing levels correspond well to your rushes/lulls.

Really really hope you can get this feature in there in a future update!

I'm here to say that as someone who has used tons of different software tools over the last 20 year, it is ridiculous that you all are not even thinking about:
1 - an way to share the employee schedule to a google or apple calendar
2 - a way to have a gantt chart
Shame on you Square for promising to be an all-in-one shop for a small business but then not listening to small businesses about what features matter

@Decades great point about a way to export the schedule to google or apple calendar - maybe where employee can download an *.ics calendar file from the mobile Square Team app

👋 - Jerry from Square, I'm a PM on our Square Shifts product. Wanted to circle back on this and share some good news -- we officially launched the hour-by-hour day view in scheduling last month!

To access, navigate to the Square Staff Scheduling page here > Click on the Date Picker > Select 'Day' and you'll be taken to our new hour-by-hour day gantt view. Would love for you to try it out and share any feedback you have with us so we can continue to improve the product.

We've rolled out a number of Square Shifts improvements over the last few months (i.e., hour by hour gantt view, time off reports, etc) and continue to have some exciting changes coming up over the next few quarters (including working on schedule calendar integration/sync).
