Custom Order Status or Order Notes

It would be very useful to be able to set some custom 'Order Status' settings or at least have the ability to make some notes that only the seller can see.

 

I'm just thinking that when you have a number of orders received it's useful to be able to filter the new from the existing orders you have started to process but not yet shipped out.

Hi @danscape, thank you for your post! At the moment, depending on the fulfilment methods, I know that orders can be marked as In Progress > Deliver or In Progress > Ready > Pickup/Delivered.

 

I'd love to surface your suggestion with our Product team, so I just want to clarify what would be your ideal setup? Would it be to add additional Order Status and be able to filter by them, or is there a different way you'd like it to be organise on Square?

Yes, having an additional order status and filtering by that would be ideal. As mentioned this wouldn't necessarily have to be visible to the customer, more an organisation tool for the seller.

 

I should have clarified my use so far is with shipped fulfilment method.

Really appreciate the additional information @danscape, that will give our team a better understanding of how the order management feature should work. Just out of curiosity, would you like to see the In Progress status be broken down to different stages, or should there be an additional status before or after this? 

No problem.

 

So for me the ideal solution would be to have different stages within the In-Progress status because I have different suppliers depending on where the product is ordered.

 

So for example when using another site I have the filters as:

New Orders

In Progress - Print Lab1

In Progress - Print Lab2

In Progress - Print Lab3

Complete

 

The In-Progress status is not sequential, it's just a way to organise so I know which orders I have put to which supplier to be fulfilled.

 

However, if that level of detail isn't possible, at least having the In-Progress stage allows me to know I have dealt with that order.

Thanks for getting back to me @danscape! I will be sure to flag this with the team and see if we can allow for more customisation within the order status. In the meantime, you should still be able to mark shipping order as In Progress which should help a little bit.
