Can a customer use their bank account to pay invoices? (ACH payments)

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Can a customer use connected bank account to pay recurring invoices?

Hi,

A client of mine has no credit cards or even a debit card for her checking account. Since my service is monthly subscription based, I wanted to get her on recurring invoices. She asked if I could connect her checking account (ACH payments) for her payment. Can this be done through Square?

Thanks!!

John

Wanted to share an exciting announcement that ACH payments are now available for Invoice payments!

Here's the announcement post where you can find full details on it from the lovely @kellyj here! Thanks for your patience as we rolled this out. 🎉

Does my Square app allow me to accept echeck payments with a bank rounting number and account number?   I don't want to take a check and cash at the bank.

@Vallartababy Currently Square does not accept eCheck's. If your customer doesn't have their credit card handy, you can send them an online Invoice. This will allow your customer to pay when they have their card available.

Square does not currently support wiring money from a customer's bank account directly, and you will need to be paid via credit or debit card or cash/check in person.

Hello
I had a customer ask me if he can pay his invoice with bill pay from his bank. Is there a way to set that up through square? Or is that suppose to go though the bank?

Square Champion

for your customer to pay your Square invoices they have to pay by credit card.

Some of our business-to-business customers have asked to be able to payfor an invoice we've sent to them (via Square Invoices) using their bank account rather than paying by credit card or debit card.

Automated Clearing House (ACH)
Electronic funds transfer (EFT)

Hello @fgarofalo

Thanks for the feedback! Could you elaborate on ACM's or ETF's? I haven't heard of the first acronym and the only ETF I know stands for exchange-traded fund which is a security.

Typically debits and credits on bank account are ACH (Automated Clearing House) transfers.

We're tracking feedback for adding ACH transfers as a payment method for Square Invoices.

Hi @Chad,

I was multitasking when I posted the original request...
I meant Electronic funds transfer (EFT), rather than ETF.
And yes, I meant Automated Clearing House (ACH) rather than ACM.

Sorry for the confusion

@fgarofalo no worries!

I thought you were going to school me on some new transfer types. 🙂

I went ahead and moved your thread to the idea exchange for Square Invoices, so we can track feedback from other members!

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: Can I take payment using a clients bank Checking and routing#? "ACH"

I've had a number of clients ask if they could pay for our services using their bank Checking Account # and Routing (ACH). Does Square offer this type of payment? If so, what is the prossing cost and how can I start offering this as a option?
